Professional Background
Erika's professional journey has taken her from directing inclusion at a summer camp, to special education teacher to behaviour consultant in both homes and schools. After graduating from Queen's University with her B.Ed. in 2010, she continued to work as the Director of Inclusion at an overnight summer camp where she had worked since 2004. She then taught in the Toronto District School Board from 2011-2016 in a variety of special education settings. During this time, she taught a wide variety of students with various exceptionalities. While teaching, she found herself continuously seeking more professional development opportunities to better support her students. After learning about Applied Behaviour Analysis and volunteering at an autism school, Erika decided to pause her teaching career and fully immerse herself in the field. She pursued a Master's in Education with a focus in Autism and Developmental Disabilities at the University of British Columbia from 2016-2018. Concurrently, she worked at an autism school and for a non-profit doing home behaviour consultation. She became accredited as a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst in May 2018. Currently, she serves students in school settings with inclusion and positive behaviour supports.
